My friends have been speculating where have I gone after quitting Geo Television and leaving Multan. Since I announced in this space that I had moved to Lahore Fatima Bhutto speculated rather accusingly on the very site that maybe I have joined the People’s Party Punjab’s information department. No such thing folks. I am a journalist not a politician and if I have learnt anything from the past it is that I should stay away from political interests. It is a promise folks that yours truly will not sell your trust to any political interest. I say what I see fit for the country and by no means am I to be considered lackey of any (I emphasize any) political group.
So where have I gone? True that I am in Lahore now but I have joined a new news channel. I am working for NewsOne a lovely news and current affairs channel albeit a bit new. The channel is only eight months old and is already carving its niche in the market. Apart from other tasks I am also hosting a new show on the national issues called the Lahore Update. The program is aired live Monday through Friday at 3:20 PM Pakistan Standard Time.
I’ll update this post with the frequency and other information in a bit. Unfortunately thus far there is no live streaming link available for the channel for it is so new. But that is in the pipeline. Also let me tell you that while this channel might be new please know that I am working with the pioneers of the private television channel in the country. It is the group that owns Pakistan’s largest marketing title Interflow and did start Pakistan’s first private TV network People’s Television Network which later became STN through its initiative NTM. And honestly it is really an exciting opportunity to work with such an accomplished team. And I am thankful that everyone’s attitude is extremely encouraging.
