Stop! Don’t shoot! You are hurting yourself!
One had expected that the US of A being among the finest example of human and societal evolution would be quick to learn from history. But alas no everyone wants to reinvent the wheel again. The blowback of the US meddling with the Pakistani culture during the Afghan War should have been instructive. But it evidently has not been. Even now the US is keen to meddle in our politics and societal issues to take maximum political mileage. The ongoing US attacks on Pakistani soil and the terrible statements being churned out in Washington are essentially meant to make maximum political capital and to justify the very existence of the Pentagon. How sad.
But any country could get away with such a thing and indeed many countries have, but not this time because it is the US we are talking about. When a role model of freedom and democracy does such cruel things for short term gains it essentially shoots itself in the foot. While the freedom loving countries the world over are abhorring what the US is doing in the name of the war on terror, the less liberal and insecure societies are continuously being alienated. So much for the US soft or cultural power. Likewise it is well known that the American forces in Baghdad and Kabul have almost failed to win hearts and hence eradicate the insurgency/freedom struggles. Hence more and more countries are now believing in defiance. The national consensus emerging in Pakistan over the US attacks is just another example of this. Pakistan after all has become a nation despite all its contradictions with a complex culture which the US cannot manipulate easily. It could manipulate the political dynamics but the more the US plays poker with the Pakistani democracy it damages the political class and the moderate forces hence bringing Islamabad a foot closer to the dark days of Zia ul Haq with each step. For heaven’s sake stop, take a deep breath and see where are you headed. The US should respect sovereignty of the countries and not let the cause of freedom dies prematurely. If this cannot be done then the US is no better today than the Nazi Germany under Hitler. Heir Bush and Heir Sam then?

Pakistan plays the fool in that America isn’t trying to convert it politically much less religiously to anything. The US just wants to rid itself in Afghanistan of those hiding out in Waziristan that cross over to attack it. Screw your hearts and minds that are threatened by your own people who would kill you for differing from their radical views. All your vacous tale telling of the US political system is pablum to your own weaknesses. You have no chance in Pakistan of freedom nor democracy so why bother to comment. Sharia shall rule over you and yours. You don’t need to worry about us trying to kill your people, you do it to yourselves for the most stupid of reasons.
