North Korea’s Nuclear Test (Originally posted on Monday, October 09, 2006)
FInally N Korea has done what it had threatened to do. I was contacted early today by friends to express my views on this. While my opinion essentially will come in detail in the shape of my column, I must point out that the dynamics from today have changed absolutely. Since despite Washington’s rebuttals North Koreans have already conducted an Intercontinental Ballistic Cruise Missiles, this nuclear detonation robs the make-belief war on terror of the pivotal US concern and confronts the US with a real challenger. History even though we may realise much later has been renewed absolutely again. And with this our General Musharraf loses his center stage position in world affairs and is left with us. Good luck General! (And for you only General, read this interesting short story by Gabriel Garcia Marquez called One of these days.)
